Announcing exciting developments at MLC Academy.
MLC Academy is one of my proudest achievements. Launched in 2007, the school opened just prior to the financial crisis. Our start was a turbulent time to say the least. Not only did the school manage to stay open throughout the financial crisis, it grew and continues to grow. Now in its 12th year, MLC Academy is undergoing a reorganisation programme that will prepare it for 2020 and beyond.
I am delighted to announce the formation of a new parent company – MLC Group Limited – that will manage the brand and the company strategy. To help deliver our vision, we welcome two new exciting team members within the group to help steer the group forward.
Lucy Harne – brand and marketing manager
Lucy joins MLC Group with over 15 years of business experience in both the retail and textile industry including the delivery of multi-million pound projects for one of the worlds biggest retailers. Lucy is perfectly placed to ensure that the company stays on track and to support the brand as it continues to grow.
Lucy is also the manager of Stagecoach Performing Arts in Burton upon Trent and a licensed chaperone with experience of chaperoning children in many theatres and venues across the country. Lucy enjoys travelling and the theatre.
Simon Brown – Director of Education and Governance
Having gained an MA in Music from The University of Nottingham, Simon is currently studying for a PhD in Music at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. He’s also an Associate Lecturer and an Honorary Associate at The Open University, teaching their music courses throughout the UK.
In the recent past he’s worked for the Royal College of Music and currently teaches Audio Production, Sound and Audio Theory at the Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies. When asked what excites him about joining us, Simon replied;
’I’m really looking forward to the future of MLC Group that we will all shape together, creating a centre of excellence where the people, the teachers and, most importantly, the learners are at the heart of everything we do’.
Our vision at MLC Academy is to be;
an inclusive community based centre of excellence for aspiring musicians of all ages and abilities
I feel very excited about the future of the school. The school now operates in the UK – Nottingham, West Bridgford, Loughborough with Leicester and Derby opening in 2020 and in Marseille in France.
I am looking forward to announcing more exciting news for MLC Academy in the coming months.
